• Make a translation program (or web site like google translate) which converts more complex words into their NewSpeak^ equivalent. Great as a gag, but it also serves a valid function. Once you understand a basic set of words, defining all other words using only those words is a huge help for those learning a language.
• a program that calculates the opacity of a covering material to provide consistant heat gain under the cover for any lat / long and date. For growing plants under optimal sun conditions.
• It's too bad that the instructions don't directly link to diagrams and videos. This is exactly the sort of thing that the web was designed to do. E.g. each instruction section is a web page, and it has the video embedded in it, and links to the diagrams that open in another window, and so on. And that got me thinking about time stamps on videos, and how each step in the instruction could sync to a specific timecode in the video. But I've never seen /anyone/ do that in a web page, have you? E.g. there is a list on one side (or top/bottom) of the page with steps, and a video embedded in the page, and you scroll through the steps, click on one, and the video starts playing at the point related to that step. Then, as it continues to play, the next step is highlighted as the video reaches that point. It looks to me like that could be done, but I've never seen it done... The head mouse: From the back of the eyeglasses, a line runs between the two ends of the frame (just like the the straps designed to allow glasses to hang down from the neck, but thinner) and a pully and line from that one is pulled down the back by a weak spring. Left / right motion of the head will not pull on this line, because the line between the frames will simply pull through the pully. Front / back motion of the head will pull the line.

Another line goes down the back from only one of the two ends of the frame. This line will be affected more by the left right motion than the up down motion.

Both lines are passed around the shaft of the encoders on a mechanical mouse before being terminated in a long, weak spring or a "take up" reel.

Target Lighting:

Regenerative Bike Brake: Use a flexible or hinged frame to store power from breaking by bending or raiseing the frame. When the break is released, the frame returns to its original shape or position and in doing so starts the bike off again.

Living in Asteroids +

A purely mechanical clock which tells the time by "tweeting" out binary numbers where two different tones represent zero or one. The sound would be produced by a slide whistle with the pitch level controlled from a cam. A stack of cams with different patterns for each digit, and the cam to be used selected by the motion of the clock; e.g. the cam stack is slowly raised over the course of the day, and dropped at midnight. Each rotation of the cam plays the selected digit. +
